Indigo Dye Techniques
For many indigo seems almost a magical dye with its beautiful shades of blue emerging from a yellow-green liquid. In this workshop, Ana Lisa Hedstrom (an exhibiting artist in The Box Project: Uncommon Threads) demonstrates several Japanese shibori techniques that involve binding sections of cloth to create resist-dye designs. Afterward, participants are invited to try simple resist techniques on cotton bandanas to be dipped in a natural indigo bath. No experience necessary. For ages 13 and up. $20 Fowler members and $25 general. Limited spaces available. To register, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 310.267.4007.
