The Cotsen Contemporary Basket Collection includes approximately 140 masterpieces of weaving and mixed media from the most recognized fiber artists in the United States as well as from international and lesser-known artists.

Most of the collection was donated to the Racine Art Museum in Racine, Wisconsin. The gift rounds out their collection of contemporary craft, already the most significant in North America.

These contemporary artists revitalize traditional basketry techniques by integrating modern materials, creating an intersection between weaving and sculpture and between nature and technology. While most of this collection has been gifted, several pieces are still in the Cotsen Collection.
